Project Focus:
Reservoir Hill Residences:
Baltimore, MD
Investment Tax Credit Consultation
The Reservoir Hill National Historic District is a significant residential neighborhood notable for its high style architecture that ranges from the Federal style of the late eighteenth century to eclectic revivals of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Many buildings were designed by prominent Baltimore architects such as Francis E. Yewell and George Frederick. The district is also significant for its association with historical events and important people. Many important authors, business leaders, and political figures lived in Reservoir Hill during its period of significance (1790 to 1941). Examples include Whittaker Chambers, a defector from the communist party that helped catalyze President Nixon’s political career, and James M. Cain, author of The Postman Rings Twice, Double Indemnity, and Mildred Pierce.
Noble Preservation consulted on design issues relating to the preservation of historic
features and materials for the Certified Rehabilitation of over 30 buildings. The project was awarded
the 2008 Historic Preservation Award from Baltimore Heritage.
